Artist Statement
My work aims to engage the audience through an understanding of process rather than purpose. I would like to provoke a compulsion to touch, to feel, to understand how something was made, rather than, “What does this mean?” The objects represented are ordinary or familiar things we interact with daily, whether out of need or want. They carry evidence of intimacy and repetition, of being turned over in anxious fingers or worn from frequent use. I want to evoke a yearning to touch, to blur the line between the precious and the mundane. The work is a record of contact, a quiet seduction through mark making.
